ABOUT JALEENA

I have worked in the Social Work field for over 12 years supporting individuals and families facing mental health and addiction challenges.

In 2013 I graduated from Kings University College with an Honours Bachelor of Social Work Degree and since that time I have continued to work alongside families and children on their unique journeys.

I am a chronic learner and love to continue building my skills and knowledge by staying engaged in ongoing training and self-led reading and research. I am a Holistic Nutrition Coach and also a past graduate of 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. Most recently I completed my 60 Hour Somatic EMDR Training which has ignited even more passion and excitement about being able to offer this beautiful modality to others on their healing journey.

As a Trauma Experienced individual I have been and continue to be in the client’s chair. Having personally felt and experienced the power of therapy as a client and as a therapist, continues to fuel my passion for this work.

I am a lover of all things simple living and in my spare time you might catch me in the forest, at the beach, in the sauna, researching something, dancing to music, or spending time with family and friends.

MY APPROACH

  • Holistic & Integrative

    I integrate practices and techniques in sessions that nourish, heal and restore balance on a mind-body-soul level. I especially love to use bottom up (somatic) and top down (cognitive) processes to encourage healing and integration of emotional wounds. Somatic EMDR offers this experience.

  • Trauma Informed , Trained & Experienced

    As a Trauma Trained and Trauma Experienced Counsellor I am sensitive to your unique needs. Safety, collaboration and empowerment are my priority. I pay special attention to mind-body awareness and nervous system functioning to enable you to build resilience and develop a felt sense of safety.

  • Memory Reconsolidation

    The subconscious mind leads the majority of our behaviours and reactions. Our core beliefs about the world, ourselves and others are stored here below our conscious awareness. Research has proven that neural pathways in our brain can be “updated” leading to a decrease in emotional reactivity or even elimination of some disruptive behaviours and reactions. I love utilizing my training in memory reconsolidation to facilitate the updating of core beliefs that are stored in the subconscious mind.
