Land Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that I live, work, and create on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral Peoples. The land I now call home is part of the Huron Tract, an area that was ceded under Treaty 29 in 1827, though not without the loss and displacement of Indigenous communities.

I honor the enduring presence, resilience, and contributions of the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point, the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, and the surrounding Indigenous Peoples who continue to care for and protect this land.

Commitment to Decolonization:

Recognizing the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, I am committed to fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and knowledge systems. I actively support decolonization by:

  • Prioritizing education about Indigenous issues through readings & workshops

  • Considering Indigenous perspectives in my work and seeking opportunities to amplify Indigenous voices.

  • Discovering and supporting local initiatives and organizations that promote land stewardship, reconciliation, and community healing.

  • Supporting Indigenous artisans, creators, and businesses in my personal and professional life.
